How did this take me by surprise?!?! The American food store on the main shopping street of Berlin.
Now that I think about it I suppose I can see it but before I entered it I was thinking, ooh, Triscuits, maybe. This place is called American Food 4 You. It is an absolute hell of Twinkies, HoHos, candy, cookies, and every kind of terrible prepared crap food you can imagine. The only “normal” American thing in the place was Tabasco sauce that cost 12 € for a small bottle. In the US it costs $3. The only boxed cake, not that I’m a huge fan of those either, was “cherry chip.” Do we even have that? Think Kwik Trip but without those wiener roller dealios.
Pop-tarts, Cheese Whiz, Shake n Bake, Marshmallow Fluff, Oreos . . . fer chrissake, this is American food. I cannot think of any other country’s equivalent. If you went into an Italian food store, French, English food even, you could not find this disgusting dreck. I was so ashamed.
And no Triscuits, not even a box of Ritz.
