Effort, for what it’s worth

Today is my uncle Jerry’s birthday. Eighty-seven, I think. He is diabetic and, well, sometimes with it and other times with out it, let’s say. They are not having a birthday party for him where he lives because someone else is turning 100 and there’s a party for her tonight. I will make dinner for him on Monday. Spare ribs and sauerkraut. I also made him a sugarless chocolate cake. I use 1/3 of a yellow box cake and add cocoa powder, the frosting is cream cheese and melted unsweetened chocolate with sweetener in it. I really don’t know if he likes this or not. To me it tastes, well, at best, empty. Now that I think about it, I should try another sugar substitute. Maybe they’ve improved on these things. The stuff I use called Satan, I think, is sorta old. Well, I’ll have to keep that in mind for next year.

The cashews are just for the sake of distraction.
