Edibles

Marijuana is legal in Colorado!! To me this is mind blowing, as it were. I’m not much of a user of the stuff and haven’t been since college. And the thing to me is that it’s just a substance for abuse. The only reason to use it is to get high. It’s not like a refreshing beer or delicious wine. Alcohol is a slow steady decline into drunkenness. Marijuana, or “bud” as the guy in the store called it, is just bang you’re high. No one is going to smoke it for the pleasure of smoking it despite the clerk’s assertion that I’m “gonna really like the Blueberry Kush.” There are many flavors and varieties, from the stuff that puts you to sleep (what I got) to the buzzy wakeful high. Just what I need: wide awake and buzzily worrying about everything.

I enquired about edibles. There were cookies of all sorts there. The inoffensive sounding snickerdoodles, chocolate chip, oatmeal and, of course, brownies. I asked about them since, well, it is a blog called The Stuff I Eat, I may as well eat it. He enthusiastically told me that the high would last 4 to 8 hours. Yeah, no.

The funny part is how illegal it feels. I walked out of there with a childproof container of 6 “mini-Js.” I felt so guilty. And then when the freeway was closed and the place was crawling with cops I thought Oh God, I have 6 joints (albeit, mini joints) in my pocket. BUT IT’S LEGAL!!!

I suppose the eating part will be the munchies afterwards. More on this later.
