Hellbent on destroying not just my edible crops the squirrels have now dotted my landscape with black walnut seedings. Black walnuts kill other plants. They may be delicious but they are lethal to flowers. So not only will I not have peaches, I won’t have begonias either . . . I might have black walnuts in 20 years so maybe that’s a trade-off.
On a happier note there are small red squirrels at my cottage. It’s possible that this is Judy the red squirrel from Berlin. We did develop a deep bond in the few moments we spent together what with all the peanuts I rushed to her. In any event the garden at the cottage is in sufficient disarray that I don’t really care what damage the hellish little creature can inflict on it.
